About the role
The Banquet Server at the Institute of Advanced Learning and Research provides food and beverage services to guests in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner, ensuring a positive guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Focus on serving food and beverages to guests
- Helps prepare for and clean up after events
- Provides prompt and courteous service to all guests
- Assists with event preparation, room set up and tear down of tables, chairs, and place settings
- Assists with catering staff members as needed, to ensure optimum service for all guests
- May direct guests throughout the event
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
- Supports other staff to ensure guest satisfaction
- Maintains composure in a demanding environment
Requirements and Skills
- Strong organizational skills: ability to manage priorities and workflow
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Exemplifies good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
- Creative, flexible, and innovative collaborator
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds
- Proven work experience as a Banquet Server or similar role
- Must be professional and courteous to other staff and guests
- The ability to meet the physical demands of the job, such as staying on your feet, climbing stairs, and carrying heavy objects
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
- Able to work as part of a team and follow instructions
- Relevant training and/or certifications
