About the role
The Banquet Manager ensures flawless execution of private events, weddings, and corporate functions while upholding the resort’s Elevated Service standards. Reporting to the Director of Banquets, you will lead service teams, oversee beverage operations, and act as the on-site client liaison to deliver unforgettable guest experiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead banquet teams in setup, execution, and breakdown of events with precision in timing, presentation, and guest satisfaction.
- Ensure food service aligns perfectly with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
- Oversee beverage service, including wine pairings, curated cocktails, and bar operations.
- Serve as the on-site client liaison, bringing their vision to life and exceeding expectations.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings to align staff on service standards, timelines, and special requests.
- Train banquet servers and bartenders in luxury service techniques, food and beverage knowledge, and resort standards.
- Provide coaching and feedback to maintain a culture of excellence; may oversee multiple events by managing assigned Banquet Captains.
- Manage inventory and requisitions for banquet bar setups, ensuring cost efficiency and compliance with Vermont State alcohol regulations.
- Review and interpret BEOs, coordinating with culinary, beverage, and event planning teams for seamless execution.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of all banquet service areas.
- Participate in post-event debriefs to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Anticipate guest needs and personalize service to reflect the resort’s Elevated Service standards.
- Handle VIP requests with discretion and professionalism.
- Ensure compliance with procedures for guest dietary preferences, restrictions, and allergies.
- Uphold the Woodstock Inn & Resort’s values in every guest interaction.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a luxury banquet operation.
- Proven track record as a Banquet Manager or similar role in hospitality.
- Advanced knowledge of food service and beverage operations.
- WSET Level 1 or equivalent wine knowledge.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and perform physically demanding tasks intermittently.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Flexibility to work evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends as required by event schedules.
Pay
Starting at $80,000 annually. The pay scale shown is the range we reasonably expect to pay; actual compensation may be adjusted based on qualifications and experience.
