About the role

Schulte Hospitality Group is seeking a dynamic, service-oriented Kitchen Manager to join our team at The Hotel Boulderado. We're looking for a Banquet Chef who is more than an accomplished culinary professional—we're searching for a leader who inspires, coaches, and develops others while creating memorable dining experiences for our guests. This role is about leading from the front. We are not looking for someone who manages by pointing and directing. We are looking for someone who teaches, mentors, demonstrates, and empowers their team every day through their actions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead banquet culinary operations with excellence, organization, and professionalism.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing culinary team through hands-on leadership.
  • Build a culture of accountability, respect, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Ensure outstanding food quality, presentation, sanitation, and operational efficiency.
  • Create memorable experiences for guests by delivering food that exceeds expectations.
  • Responsible for long- and short-term planning and day-to-day operations of the kitchen and related culinary departments.
  • Manage associates and managers in the kitchen in order to attract, retain and motivate the employees while providing a safe environment; hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication vehicles and discipline and terminate as appropriate.
  • Plan and manage the procurement, production, preparation and presentation of all food in the hotel in a safe, sanitary, cost-effective manner.
  • Monitor and control the maintenance/sanitation of kitchen, equipment and related areas to ensure a healthy, safe work environment which meets/exceeds federal, state, corporate and franchise standards and regulations.
  • Develop, recommend, implement and manage the department's budget; continually analyze, forecast, monitor and control the labor and food costs through various methods to meet/exceed management/budget objectives.
  • Develop and implement menus and back-up (use records, production lists, pars, training, etc.) within corporate guidelines to continually improve revenues and profit margins while maintaining quality.
  • Execute and promote the Accident Prevention Program to minimize liabilities and related expenses.
  • Perform various other duties as assigned to meet business objectives.

Who you are

  • You believe leadership is earned through service.
  • You understand that great chefs build great teams—not just great menus.
  • You are passionate about food, but equally passionate about helping people discover what they're capable of.
  • You don't simply give instructions—you demonstrate, teach, encourage, and elevate those around you.
  • You bring energy, humility, creativity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence to everything you do.

Qualifications

  • Proven banquet or high-volume culinary leadership experience.
  • A genuine passion for coaching and developing others.
  • Creative culinary skills with a commitment to continuous innovation.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
