Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all assigned banquet functions, ensuring event spaces are set according to specifications and service is executed seamlessly from setup through breakdown.
- Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and coordinate with culinary, sales, and operational teams to ensure all event details are delivered accurately and on schedule.
- Direct banquet team members by assigning service stations, delegating responsibilities, and providing hands-on leadership throughout each event.
- Cookfood and beverage service, ensuring all offerings meet quality, presentation, timing, and guest satisfaction standards.
- Partner closely with culinary leadership to ensure banquet menus are prepared, presented, and served in accordance with company standards and guest expectations.
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences by proactively addressing needs, resolving concerns professionally, and maintaining a visible presence throughout events.
- Plan and schedule banquet staffing based on business levels, conduct pre-shift meetings, and communicate event expectations and service standards.
- Train, coach, mentor, and support team members through ongoing feedback, performance development, and recognition to foster a high-performing service culture.
- Maintain accountability for banquet equipment, supplies, inventory, and event documentation, including accurate cover counts, reporting, and billing processes.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and company policies while maintaining clean, organized, and event-ready banquet facilities.
Requirements
- Three + years experience as a Banquet Captain in a high volume, upscale hotel or free-standing restaurant/banquet operation, preferred.
- Alcohol service certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
- Exceptional knowledge and understanding of various banquet and food service techniques and standards.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with POS systems and basic financial reporting.
- Ability to lift and carry food service trays weighing 35+ pounds.
- Skilled in working efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail.
- Flexible availability to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as needed.
