About the role

The Bankruptcy Department monitors and maintains accounts throughout the Chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13 bankruptcy processes while adhering to federal, state, and district guidelines to minimize risk and loss to creditors. This position will be hybrid remote/on-site after an initial on-site training period.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bankruptcy searches through Pacer of the Unit’s assigned inventory to review for dismissals, conversions, and objections to proofs of claim filed
  • Draft a variety of court filings, including Proof of Claims and requests for notices, accurately
  • Accurately enter bankruptcy dismissals and discharges in RMS to close accounts
  • Assist with daily reports as needed
  • Scan and redact account statements
  • Read, understand, and analyze bankruptcy information to determine appropriate action
  • Review, sort, and process bankruptcy correspondence sent to the firm electronically or through traditional mail
  • Handle inbound/outbound calls as they relate to bankruptcy, ensuring compliance with the Bankruptcy Code
  • Assist the Bankruptcy Paralegal staff and Attorneys with any other tasks as required
  • Draft Judicial Lien Payoff Letters for attorney review
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Previous administrative experience in a law firm or other financial or banking institution
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Adobe products
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the bankruptcy and loan servicing fields
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to maintain confidential information
  • Proficient computer skills with a high comfort level with various software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of debt collection laws and regulations
  • Ability to communicate in a common language with individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing
  • Ability to operate a computer, phone, or equivalent device
  • Ability to complete a minimum of a 40-hour flexible workweek schedule
  • Ability to read and comprehend position-specific documents and correspondence

Physical Qualifications

  • Ability to lift five pounds or greater
  • Ability to sit 90% of the workday at times
  • Ability to bend at the waist and be mobile when needed
  • Ability to concentrate and use critical thinking

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000.
