Position Summary
The Banking Operations Contractor will support core client onboarding and account operations activities within an institutional banking environment. The role is responsible for coordinating account events, ensuring accurate and timely operational setup, supporting cash and position-related activities, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a controlled, client-focused operating model.
Work you'll do
- Own and coordinate client account events from an operations perspective, serving as a central point of contact across business and operations teams.
- Manage operational tasks across multiple stakeholders to ensure account information is complete and systems are ready before trading activity begins.
- Liaise with custodians, prime brokers, and other counterparties to establish connectivity, operational workflows, and service support.
- Interpret client operational requirements from business documentation and support materials, and coordinate internal and external controls and approvals.
- Maintain data accuracy and support accounting oversight to help ensure a controlled investment and client reporting environment.
- Monitor account-level metrics and operational exceptions, including cash and position reconciliations, corporate actions, trade breaks, and reporting deliverables.
- Identify and escalate operational issues proactively to reduce client impact and support timely resolution.
- Support process improvement and reengineering efforts to enhance efficiency, controls, and service quality.
- Contribute to evolving regulatory and technology-related operational needs through practical recommendations and issue resolution.
- Support ad hoc operational inquiries and client service requests as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in banking operations, financial services, or a related control-focused environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly collaborative, team-oriented, and able to build consensus across functions.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated risk management mindset and practical problem-solving ability.
- Ability to partner across products, regions, and functional teams.
