Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) / Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Analyst I (Hybrid)
About the role
The Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Group at UMB protects the bank from exploitation for money laundering or terrorism financing through the design and oversight of a system of controls. This team ensures compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA Patriot Act (USAPA), and sanctions set by the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).
Responsibilities
- Investigate customer transactions representing increased risk for money laundering or terrorist financing, primarily using an automated surveillance system.
- Prepare clear and concise dispositions on daily alerts and reports.
- Perform customer relationship reviews based on new account openings, high-risk attributes, and other relationships identified by the EDD Manager or BSA/AML Officer.
- Assess the effectiveness of existing controls performed by UMBFS transfer agency supporting the UMBFS BSA/AML program.
- Support the BSA/AML risk assessment process by confirming the effectiveness of the control environment across UMBFS operations and ensuring the quality of customer data within core systems.
- First-level disposition of OFAC and 314a suspects from batch reporting, as well as dispositions on business unit escalations for OFAC suspects.
Requirements
- A minimum of an Associate's Degree OR two years of industry-relevant experience in operational, compliance, or fraud investigation roles.
- Bonus points for brokerage experience, including investment advisor, mutual fund transfer agency, or alternative administration.
- Knowledge of mutual funds and/or alternative investment funds.
- Experience with AML surveillance systems.
- Expert experience with Microsoft Office suite.
