About the role
This position is part of the Exception Processing department within our Bank Operations group. Exception Processing handles critical daily tasks such as processing transactions that fail to post systematically, building check image return files, managing posting decisions for overdrawn accounts, processing disputed ACH activity, handling government reclamations, state levies, and account research activities for customers and formal legal requests. The role will initially focus on transaction processing tasks within the department.
Responsibilities
- Process transactions that fail to post systematically
- Build check image return files
- Manage posting decisions for overdrawn accounts
- Process disputed ACH activity
- Handle government reclamations and state levies
- Perform account research for customers and formal legal requests
- Read, reference, and interpret written departmental procedures
- Cross-train on department tasks
- Suggest corrections or enhancements to existing processes
- Develop a deeper understanding of applicable regulations, operational compliance, and the banking industry
- Other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- 1-3 years of banking experience or a college degree (preferred, but not required)
- Ability to work in a team environment with rotating responsibilities and knowledge-sharing
- Strong communication skills for phone and email interactions with internal customers and business partners
- Proficiency with standard computer software (MS Outlook, MS Excel) and ability to quickly learn job-specific software and web-based applications
- Strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to operate in a deadline-driven environment with specific service level agreements
Schedule
Primary hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Additional hours may be required as needed.
