Job Overview The Pastry Cook at Safta’s Table is responsible for preparing pastries, breads, desserts, and other baked goods that reflect the comforting and soulful flavors of Safta and Saba in a relaxed, all-day café setting. This role plays a key part in daily pastry production, maintaining product quality and consistency, and ensuring all items are prepared according to established recipes and presentation standards. The Pastry Cook works closely with the kitchen team to support smooth, efficient operations throughout the day. Key Responsibilities Prepare pastries, breads, desserts, fillings, sauces, and other baked goods according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelinesAccurately measure, mix, shape, bake, assemble, and finish pastry itemsComplete daily pastry prep and production according to established timelines and business needsEnsure all products meet standards for taste, appearance, freshness, and consistencyProperly label, date, store, and rotate ingredients and prepared productsMaintain a clean, organized, and sanitary pastry station at all timesFollow all kitchen protocols, food safety standards, allergen procedures, and sanitation requirementsSafely and properly operate ovens, mixers, food processors, and other pastry equipmentReceive and store deliveries, ensuring product quality and proper stock rotationCommunicate effectively with leadership about inventory needs, production levels, and challengesMinimize waste by following recipes, portion standards, and proper storage proceduresWork collaboratively with fellow cooks and kitchen staff to maintain a positive and efficient work environmentSupport the overall goals of the kitchen team by jumping in where neededProvide all other duties, as assigned Qualifications 1+ year of pastry, baking, or professional kitchen experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidatePassion for pastry, food, hospitality, and continuous learningBasic understanding of baking techniques, pastry equipment, and food safety standardsAbility to follow recipes accurately and consistentlyStrong attention to detail, organization, and time managementStrong work ethic and ability to take directionDependable, punctual, and a strong team playerComfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgencyAbility to maintain composure and positivity during high-volume production and service Joining the Safta’s Table team means becoming part of a family that is passionate about food, culture, and creating memorable experiences for our guests.
