Responsibilities
- Assist in merchandising products or services to develop new markets, increase market share, and obtain a competitive position.
- Assist the Bakery Manager in determining the variety and quantity of bakery products to produce or replenish based on orders, sales projections, and daily volume.
- Ensure proper production of bakery products in the absence of bakers or the bakery department manager.
- Prepare pizzas according to ingredient guidelines and display products in cases.
- Maintain cleanliness of the department area, including equipment, containers, storage areas, aisles, and display cases, while keeping products and supplies organized.
- Operate equipment (if over 18 years of age) and price scales with knowledge of current prices.
- Price or change price tags on merchandise using the price list and coordinate with the scan department.
- Receive, open, and unpack cartons and crates of merchandise, verifying invoices against received items.
- Promptly clear the floor of restocking equipment and debris.
- Rotate products according to departmental guidelines.
- Set up advertising signs and display merchandise to attract customers and promote sales.
- Take and process customer orders to ensure products are ready on time.
- Monitor inventory regularly to identify items needing reordering or replenishment.
- Assist the department manager in obtaining budgets for labor, gross profit, and inventory control.
- Participate in regularly scheduled departmental inventories.
- Supervise the department in the absence of the Department Manager and Assistant Department Manager, assigning job duties and scheduling breaks.
- Assist with training workers on store policies, departmental procedures, and job duties.
- Communicate performance and training issues to the department manager.
- Coordinate vendor invoices, SKH invoices, and inter-company transfers daily to ensure timely billing.
- Maintain knowledge of current inventories and ordering systems to assist with ordering supplies and merchandise from approved vendors.
- Understand retail label systems and communicate with Scan, General Management, and/or Buying teams to ensure correct pricing.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly exposed to hot temperatures while working around kitchen equipment.
