Bakery Production Team Member (Food Preparation) - Part Time Seasonal

About the Role

This position involves all functions related to preparation, counter service, and stocking of products, with a focus on decorating and finishing cakes and pies. As a Team Member at Whole Foods Market, you'll ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and fellow Team Members. You'll work in accordance with store Standard Operating Procedures and be prepared to perform duties inherent in other Team Member job descriptions. Team Leaders are expected to spend significant time on the floor, engaging with customers and assisting wherever needed.

Responsibilities

• Produces quality breads, pastries, doughs, mixes, cakes, cookies, breakfast pastries, pies, and bars.
• Performs baking, cooling, wrapping, and labeling of products.
• Stocks dry products.
• Develops new recipes and production techniques for seasonal variance and high productivity.
• Trains production personnel to industry standards.
• Plans and forecasts production for special events and holidays.
• Maintains production modules in the Datapax system.
• Provides excellent customer service, addressing needs promptly and modeling suggestive selling techniques.
• Maximizes sales through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising.
• Follows health, sanitation, and safety procedures, including Weights and Measures.
• Maintains a clean and sanitary working environment and equipment.
• Performs opening, mid, and closing duties, ensuring accurate signage and pricing.
• Reports safety hazards and violations immediately.

• Knowledge of artisan breads, pastries, and cake decorating.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday.
• Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
• Motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals, temperatures ranging from below 32°F to above 90°F, and wet/dry conditions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Use of tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and heavy machinery.
• May require ladder use.

Pay

The wage range for this position is $17.75-$25.40 per hour, commensurate with experience.
