Cyclone Bagels is a neighborhood bagel shop in Coney Island focused on fresh, same-day sourdough bagels and pastries. Nestled on the ground floor of a community-focused residential building for veterans and low-income families.
About the role
We’re looking for a hands-on Bakery Operations Manager to oversee daily operations including food production, customer service, staff supervision, inventory, purchasing, cash handling, and regulatory compliance. Baking and supervisory experience is a must.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of Cyclone Bagels, including front of house, back of house, food production, customer service, opening, and closing procedures.
- Prepare and bake bagels and other menu items when the Head Baker is off and provide baking coverage as needed.
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and support staff while maintaining adequate coverage during business hours.
- Manage production schedules, inventory, vendor orders, deliveries, and purchasing to ensure efficient operations.
- Oversee cash handling, point of sale transactions, daily reconciliations, deposits, and financial reporting.
- Monitor sales, labor, food costs, and operating expenses to achieve financial and operational goals.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility while ensuring compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Deliver excellent customer service by resolving concerns and maintaining a welcoming environment.
- Partner with Concern Housing staff to support marketing, online ordering, promotions, and community outreach.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience in a bakery, cafe, quick-service restaurant, or similar food service operation with on-site production.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Culinary Arts, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Current NYS Food Protection for Managers Certificate required.
- Experience with baking and staff supervision, scheduling, inventory, purchasing, cash handling, and cost control required.
- Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and Batistat preferred.
Pay
$85,000 - $90,000/year, based on experience.
Schedule
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Sunday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Schedule flexibility offered.
