Job Description
A Bakery Deli Assistant Manager is a friendly, enthusiastic person who enjoys assisting the Bakery Deli Manager in serving and leading our Bakery Deli teammates. This role is responsible for a wide variety of complex tasks within the company.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and achieving budgets for the department and to achieve targeted sales for the.
- Excel in guest service by developing a guest service program for all department teammates to follow.
- Initiate recommendation regarding the hiring, firing, discipline, promotion and evaluation of department personnel.
- Assist in conducting department meetings to review merchandising, sales planning, and operational problems while keeping teammates informed about matters that concern them on the job.
- Train and retrain all department personnel when necessary
- Adequately manage and train department team on proper use of slicer, oven, fryers, and mixers
- Understand and follow the Lock-Out-Tag-Out policy
- Communicate with the store manager on problems, recommendations for change and merchandising decisions
- Adhere to FIFO stocking rules, consistently rotating product on the sales floor, and use the correct channels to request credits on any less than perfect product
- Supervise the safety procedures used in the operation of the baler, case cutter, pallet jack, fork lift, knife, garbage disposal, juicer, pineapple corer, scales and wrapper (must be 18 years or older to operate the pallet jack, fork lift and baler)
- Count and record individual items of merchandise for inventory
- Compute the retail price from cost, complete price changes, PLU file and scale system maintenance, and manual price labeling of merchandise without an UPC code
- Safeguard the safety of self, guests and teammates by understanding and practicing store safety rules and notifying a store manager of any potential hazard immediately
Qualifications
- Must be 18 or older
- Basic mathematical ability (add, subtract, multiply, divide, and count)
- Able to give and receive complex verbal instructions or descriptions to and from supervisors and teammates
- Able to read and write instructions, labels, printed paper and forms
- Good interpersonal communications
- Food Safety Certification

- Regularly perform the following motions: Sit, Stand, Stoop, Squat, Bend, Reach, Push, Pull, Grip, Twist, Lift, Climb, Carry, Walk, Kneel
Safety
- The teammate will not use drugs or alcohol on the job.
- The teammate will not create a direct threat to the health and safety of others on the job.
Teammate Requirements
- Age 18 and older will be required to safely handle and operate the following: Case cutter, Utility knife, Forklift (with proper certification), Pallet jack, Compact Baler
- Age 18 and older who work in food prep areas will be required to safely handle and operate the following: Slicer, Oven, Fryer, Knives, Mixers
Work Environment
- Inside work with extreme variations in heat, cold, dust, humidity from compressors, cooler, freezer, equipment, and preparation area.
