Position Summary
Lee’s Marketplace is a family-owned grocery chain dedicated to providing a pleasant shopping experience for guests. The Bakery Clerks play a crucial role in the Bakery Department, assisting with production, display, and customer service.
Primary Position Duties
- Helps with the production, development, preparation, and maintenance of Bakery items in accordance with recipes and quality standards.
- Aids in the displaying and restocking of Bakery products, ensuring shelves and cases are filled, fresh, rotated, faced, and cleaned.
- Maintains accurate food inventories and educates customers about Lee’s wide variety of bakery options and other specialty food products.
- Maintains training and certification by attending in-person trainings and utilizing digital training platforms.
- Processes and completes orders through digital and in-person order processing.
- Engages in guest service by greeting and assisting guests, providing knowledgeable answers to inquiries, promoting a high level of morale, and resolving issues professionally.
- Handles product handling tasks such as stocking shelves, ensuring product freshness, packaging, and labeling.
- Maintains cleanliness and safety by keeping work areas clean, adhering to safety and sanitation procedures, reporting hazards, and following food safety guidelines.
- Operates cash registers, handles transactions accurately, follows store policies on returns, exchanges, and refunds, and ensures the security of cash and financial transactions.
- Collaborates with team members to achieve store goals, participates in meetings and training sessions, assists other departments, and works in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, twist, sit, and bend for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity for handling small objects and operating equipment.
- Repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip, and balance.
- Occasional stoop, crouch, kneel, or crawl.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the store.
- Occasional use and climbing of step stools or ladders are required.
Education & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous experience in retail or guest service (preferred).
- Previous specialty cheese experience (preferred).
Physical Demands
- Ability to write, speak, hear, and understand the spoken word to respond promptly to pages, requests, team members, and guests.
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate cooking machinery.
