Bakery Clerk

About the role

As a Bakery Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market, you will prepare and bake cookies, bread, and muffins using proven ingredients, assist the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising baked goods, provide excellent customer service, and maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary bakery department.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and package all baked goods
• Assist the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising baked goods
• Provide a high level of customer service and ensure bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented
• Maintain cleanliness of the bakery department area, including cleaning shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris, and sweeping
• Stock, fill, face, and ensure pricing accuracy while examining rotation of bakery products and discarding outdated or spoiled items
• Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality
• Answer phones and take special orders
• Perform general housekeeping: clean and sanitize work area (tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.)
• Operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed
• Use knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products
• Adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations while maintaining a Food Handlers permit

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent; 1‑2 years bakery experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience
• Dependable and reliable with ability to work a flexible schedule that changes, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude and ability to interact with customers
• Good communication skills; ability to take direction and participate in a team environment
• Ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift
• Ability to vertically transfer trays up to 5 lbs. from 7” to 64” for up to 10 hours, and
