About the role

Bakery Clerk positions at Hy-Vee are integral to ensuring a positive customer experience and maintaining a clean, organized store environment. Our employees are key to supporting our mission of "a helpful smile in every aisle."

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service.
• Greets customers with a smile and addresses them by name when possible.
• Assists customers with their shopping needs, such as escorting them to products, securing items, loading/unloading carts, and passing along customer suggestions or requests.
• Reviews orders for the day and prepares/replenishes products as necessary.
• Ensures the department is clean and well-stocked, adhering to proper sanitation procedures.
• Runs the department registers and handles payments.
• Maintains a tidy work area and removes trash promptly.
• Adheres to department and company guidelines regarding personal hygiene and dress.
• Reports to work on time and as scheduled.

Requirements

• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to do simple addition and subtraction.
• Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
• Write identifying information.
• Must be able to perform medium work, including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
• Must possess visual abilities including clarity of vision, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision.
• Must be able to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
• Must be able to work in a store environment with exposure to flour dust, noise, cleaning chemicals/solvents, electrical shock, and temperature extremes.

Qualifications

• Less than high school education or equivalent experience.
• Less than six months of similar or related work experience.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $12.00 - $14.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
