Northgate Markets, founded on January 2nd, 1980, in Anaheim, CA, now operates 40+ stores across Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, and the Inland Empire counties. We specialize in offering a comprehensive supermarket experience with a strong emphasis on a large meat department, bakery, tortilleria, and prepared foods, alongside a significant selection of domestic and imported Latin American groceries.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and adhere to company dress regulations.
- Aid in receiving and unloading merchandise, verifying quantities and quality.
- Rotate bakery ingredients and merchandise according to store policy and product codes.
- Control utility and water usage, follow conservation practices, and maintain cleanliness.
- Perform regular cleaning and maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
- Monitor refrigeration equipment and report any malfunctions to the manager.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including mixers, sheeters, scales, and ovens.
- Prepare dough, scratch baking mixtures, and manage inventory.
- Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy.
- Accurately record and manage inventory, including markups, markdowns, and write-offs.
- Optimize production to meet consumer demand and minimize unsold or stale products.
- Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, adhering to safety protocols.
Requirements And Conditions
- High school education or equivalent preferred, but not required.
- One year of experience in full bakery operations and procedures, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Health department training required.
- Ability to calculate percentages and ratios, hear, speak, and understand the English language, and read/write effectively.
- Thorough knowledge of baking methods and safety considerations.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
- Sit, stand, and use hands to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift moderate amounts of weight.
- Adjust focus to examine vendor invoices, analyze reports, and other written documents.
- Work with bakery ingredients and spices without adverse allergic reactions.
- Occasional exposure to refrigerated and heated environments, airborne particles, and chemical fumes.
- Frequent exposure to moderate noise levels.
