Bakery Associate

Job Summary

Aids in the daily operations of the bakery department. Enhances customer confidence and loyalty through consistent and compliant operating conditions. Serves fresh and appealing products with courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service.

Responsibilities

• SERVICE: 60%

  • Create welcoming, respectful, and appreciative environments for customers.
  • Maintain high standards for product availability, freshness, quality, and value.
  • Offer product samples, answer questions, and assist customers in finding or suggesting products.
  • Ensure customer requests and special orders are fulfilled promptly.

• LEADERSHIP: 20%

  • Promote trust and respect among team members by collaborating, fostering teamwork, and sharing information.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.

• FINANCIAL: 10%

  • Monitor inventory and report discrepancies.
  • Inspect products for quality and freshness, taking appropriate actions.
  • Prepare, package, label, and display products for sale.
  • Utilize production planning tools to produce fresh products and follow discard or markdown processes.
  • Ensure products are stored at proper temperatures and maintain documentation of temperature logs.

• COMPLIANCE/SAFETY: 10%

  • Maintain company standards for safety, proper food handling, sanitation, and productivity.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements for food safety, USDA & COOL, and DOA.
  • Execute product recalls and withdrawals promptly, securing and removing items from customer access.
  • Report and address safety risks, illegal activities, and ensure adherence to wage and hour policies.
  • Cultivate a safety-conscious culture by complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and ensuring personal protective equipment is available and used.
  • Ensure equipment is in good repair and assist with remediation of safety hazards.
  • Notify management of accidents and incidents.

  • Minimum 0-3 years of supervisory experience.

• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
  • Operate bakery equipment according to company guidelines.

  • Utilize manual dexterity.
  • Talk, see, hear, smell, and perform repetitive movements with both hands and/or both feet.
  • Sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb up to 10 ft.
  • Working Conditions:
  • Indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, and wet/humid working conditions.
  • Safety Risk Factors:
  • Twist back and/or neck.
  • Walk on slippery or cluttered floors.
  • Work with hazardous equipment and be exposed to sharp objects.
  • Exposure to loud noise, skin irritants, nuisance dust, fumes, and sprays, hazardous cleaning solutions, and other toxins.
  • Use cleaning supplies and equipment, general office equipment, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, various material handling equipment, such as racks, carts, pallet jacks, shopping carts.
  • Department Specific Required Equipment:
  • Powered cutting equipment, such as slicers, saws, grinders, various knives, various ovens, stoves, rotisserie, fryers, steamers, proofer, wrapping equipment.
  • Preferred Equipment:
  • Baler/compactor, general hardware tools such as a ladder, pliers, wire cutters, box cutter.
  • Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Goggles, Gloves, Cutting Gloves, Fryer Gloves, Oven Gloves, Back Brace.
  • Lifting Requirement:
  • 250 lbs.
