Reports to: Bakery Area Leader

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for the manufacturing of consumer foods which comply with all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support company and site safety policies; perform work-related activities in a safe manner.
  • Recognize unsafe working conditions, coach peers, and suggest new safety standards as appropriate.
  • Operate, maintain, and clean production equipment.
  • Follow and improve documented operational, maintenance, and sanitation standards in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) work environment.
  • Train and perform equipment changeovers and sanitation activities.
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities (e.g., lubrication) and create work orders in a timely manner to maximize plant equipment performance.
  • Improve and modify preventative maintenance activities as needed.
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation equipment and software.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operation and troubleshooting of:
    • Power Distribution
    • Studio5000 or Logix5000 platform hardware and software
    • Drives and Motion Control
    • FactoryTalk ME & SE
    • Ethernet/IP Control Network
    • Food Manufacturing and Utility Instrumentation
  • Maintain and properly operate electrical testing equipment.
  • Utilize drawings, prints, and instruction manuals to determine proper steps for equipment preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Adhere to company drawing and documentation standards.
  • Coach other team members on electrical, instrumentation, and controls skills, machine functionality, defect identification and resolution, and equipment repair.
  • Travel and actively participate in training and qualification programs for designated line/area; participate in assessments and ensure effective training and consistent qualification standards are maintained.
  • Use continuous improvement tools, including breakdown elimination, to eliminate losses and drive issues to root cause.
  • Document, communicate, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Own one or more technical, safety, or quality systems.
  • Assume responsibility for building technician skill and providing continuous coaching.
  • Create documentation as needed (SOPs, Job Aids, PM Improvements, etc.).
  • Maintain knowledge, skill, and ability by attending technical training sessions, participating in vendor visits, scheduled maintenance activities, and attaining expertise in advanced E&I technology (networks, servers, FactoryTalk, Motion Controls, etc.).
  • Obtain and maintain maintenance low voltage qualification within twelve months of start date.
  • Utilize technology (e.g., computers) to maintain accurate records and data; use Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and online training resources.
  • Maintain an accurate electronic database of repair and maintenance activities including parts usage and time tracking.
  • Facilitate effective shift pass-downs with prior/next shift to discuss safety, quality, and production issues.
  • Lead and manage projects to improve safety, quality, and production results in a designated area.
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment; help solve problems and implement solutions.
  • Demonstrate good attendance and consistent performance delivering consistent safety and quality.
  • Flexibility with working a 12-hour shift and overtime related to covering day activities and outages on other teams.
  • Sign off as a Level 9 Technician within a reasonable timeframe (to be discussed with manager).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associates or technical degree or training preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience with electrical systems, PLC, motor and motion controls, SCADA systems, device and information networks, sensors, and instrumentation equipment for manufacturing preferred.
  • Must be an Identified Level 6 (Level 8 Qualified Preferred).
  • No written warnings in the last 12 months.

  • Basic Excel skills.
  • Communication skills.
  • Critical thinking skills (FA and/or Why-Whys).
  • Basic Spotfire knowledge.

Schedule

  • 12-hour night shift with flexibility for overtime as needed.
