About the Role

As a Bakery Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market, you will prepare, bake, and package all baked goods while assisting the Bakery Manager in pricing, merchandising, and maintaining the department. This role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring product freshness, and maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary bakery environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, bake, and package baked goods, including cookies, bread, and muffins.
• Assist in pricing, merchandising, and stocking bakery products while ensuring accurate rotation and discarding outdated or spoiled items.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the bakery area, equipment, shelves, and floors, including sweeping, sanitizing work areas, and removing hazards.
• Provide high-level customer service, including answering phones and taking special orders.
• Receive, inspect, and log bakery shipments for accuracy, temperature, and quality.
• Operate bakery equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations, including obtaining and maintaining a Food Handlers permit.
• Perform physical tasks, including standing for up to 8 hours per shift, lifting up to 40 lbs., and transferring items vertically and horizontally without mechanical assistance.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of bakery experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Outgoing, friendly demeanor with a positive attitude and strong customer interaction skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to perform general housekeeping duties, including cleaning and sanitizing work areas.
• Knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products.
