About the Role

Company Bakers create an exceptional customer service experience by planning, preparing, baking, cooking, and serving quality foods while ensuring the bakery department is properly maintained.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate service.
• Read recipes, prepare, measure, and mix ingredients for breads, desserts, and cakes.
• Bake foods using ovens, grills, stove tops, and other utensils.
• Maintain a sanitary kitchen area in compliance with company policies and industry standards.
• Prepare food products to meet customer specifications.
• Stock trucks, shelves, store rooms, and coolers within the Bakery Department.
• Stack, date code, and organize products; ensure 100% rotation as items are stocked.
• Check date codes, mark down products close to expiration, and remove out-of-date products from display.
• Comply with safety and health standards to ensure safe food handling.
• Identify, correct, and report unsafe conditions that could cause accidents.
• Properly clean equipment and tools.
• Minimize shrinkage through proper product handling.
• Provide assistance to co-workers.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and all regulations.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Requirements

• Exceptional customer service skills, including preparing food to customer specifications and maintaining a friendly, polite attitude.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships.
• Basic computer skills and software management.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Strong communication skills with customers and coworkers.
• Knowledge of and experience complying with equipment, safety principles, and procedures.
• Ability to operate equipment necessary for the position.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience as a baker in a retail environment.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and carrying medium to heavy items.
• Ability to safely operate heavy and sharp tools/equipment.
• Work is performed indoors in a refrigerated, climate-controlled setting.
