About the role
To prepare baked goods for the resort's food and beverage outlets.
Responsibilities
- Possess a solid background in breads, pastries, cakes and sauces with the knowledge of cake decorating techniques including wedding cakes
- Handle knives excellently and operate all kitchen equipment in a safe, efficient and effective manner
- Work with others well in a close environment with a learning attitude possessing speed and efficiency
- Assume control of the kitchen in the absence of a Sous Chef
- Lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Follow the kitchen chain of command (Chefs, Cook I, Cook II, Cook III)
- Take an active role in the training of new cooks
- Perform duties ranging from creative to redundant with large volume baking on a daily basis
- Perform other duties as required

Education and experience
- Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Other Skills and Abilities: The ability to work well with a team, to prioritize, a sense of urgency and a real concern for guest satisfaction
Certificates and licenses
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Have a safe driving record and the ability to obtain a Missouri class E or Arkansas P designated drivers license
Physical demands
- Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell
- Frequently required to walk
- Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Work environment
- Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and extreme cold
