Overview
The bailiff provides clerical/administrative assistance to the judge and Court. The bailiff conducts open court sessions and assists in the operation of the Court. This is not a security position. This position requires extensive computer skills as the Court is on an E-filing system. Bi-lingual skills in Spanish is preferred.
Position Responsibilities
- Conducts open court sessions, assists with remote hearings, and updates the information in the automated case management systems, including working in the various queues to process information in a timely manner
- Prepares pleadings and monitors court files for court sessions and/or the Judge's rulings
- Assists judicial officers and staff for court proceedings, including remote hearings
- Answers court telephones and responds to questions from court representatives and the general public
- Assists deputies in the coordination of scheduling prisoners attending court
- Assists with the effective management of the court calendar through confirmation of hearings with attorneys
- Assists with other duties as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or HSE is required
- Knowledge and understanding of legal terminology and civil and/or criminal court procedures a plus
- Proven computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office Products and Email are required
- Must be able to interact with diverse groups of individuals and have excellent organizational and time management skills
- Approximately six months on-the-job training required for job proficiency
- Bi-lingual skills in Spanish is strongly preferred
- Salary enhancements for bi-lingual skills and Associate's or Bachelor's degrees
