Job Summary
Increases customer confidence and loyalty by providing accurate, fast and courteous customer checkout. Assists customers in unloading purchases, packing groceries, checking prices, restocking, cleaning, and ensuring safety and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Assists customers in unloading purchases onto the conveyor belt at the checkout.
- Packs customer purchases in a manner to prevent damages, carry or push groceries in a shopping cart to the customer's car and load groceries into the vehicle.
- Checks the price of merchandise in all departments, as needed.
- Returns discarded or returned merchandise.
- Restocks and uses supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost.
- Cleans spills, collects and picks up trash inside store and parking lot.
- Cleans all areas inside and outside of store.
- Performs basic shelf conditioning.
- Collects shopping carts from parking lot and other areas and returns to designated area.
- Ensures company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity are maintained.
- Adheres to all regulatory compliance requirements pertaining to food safety, USDA & COOL, and DOA.
- Executes all product recalls and withdrawals in a timely manner while ensuring all items are secured and removed from customer access.
- Reinforces safety programs by complying with safety procedures and inspects and identifies unsafe conditions to report to store management.
- Notifies management of customer or employee accidents.
- Reports all safety risks, or issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud.
- Ensures adherence to wage and hour policies and regulations.
- Cultivates a culture of safety within the store.
- Ensures self and all associates are working safely and have received necessary safety training.
- Ensures Hazardous Assessments are posted for associate reference and that Personal Protective Equipment is available and utilized by all associates executing tasks within the department, as required.
- Ensures equipment is in good repair; reports and assists with remediation (ex. lock out/tag out of equipment) of safety hazards within the department.
Qualifications
- High School / GED Diploma
- English language proficiency
- Knowledge of compliance with company policies and procedures
- High standard of integrity and reliability
- Ability to work in the United States or obtain authorization to work
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check

- Moderate physical demands: standing, walking, utilizing manual dexterity, talking, seeing, hearing, smelling, performing repetitive movements with both hands and/or both feet, reaching at waist level or overhead, carrying, pushing, lifting up to 250 lbs., sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing up to 10 ft.
- Exposure to indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, and wet/humid working conditions
- Safety risk factors: twisting back and/or neck, walking on a slippery or cluttered floor surface, working with hazardous equipment, exposure to sharp objects, loud noise, skin irritants, nuisance dust, fumes and sprays, hazardous cleaning solutions and other toxins
- Overall required equipment: cleaning supplies and equipment, general office equipment, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, various material handling equipment, such as racks, carts, pallet jacks, shopping carts
- Preferred equipment: baler/compactor, box cutter
- Personal protective equipment: goggles, gloves, back brace
- Lifting requirement: 30 lbs.
Travel
Night shift only, no overnight travel required.
