Backup Consultant – Commvault, VEEAM & Cohesity

About the role

Day 1 onsite position in Melbourne, FL.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain CommServe, Media Agents, and clients.
• Implement bundled custom services, converting and ingesting existing data into the Commvault platform.
• Configure disaster recovery and fault-tolerant features, storage policies, and copies for deduplicated disk and tape libraries.
• Set up schedules and schedule policies for data management and administrative functions.
• Install and configure non-deduplicated and deduplication Media Agents in small to extra-large environments.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot disk and tape libraries.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot client backup/restore agents.
• Perform Windows and Unix/Linux server administration, including routine patching in a CommVault environment.
• Handle TCP/IP and SAN technologies, including CommVault firewall configuration and deployment.
• Manage data center operations, including tape library configuration and daily operations.
• Monitor and administer CommVault daily operations, including performance monitoring and resource management.
• Submit and resolve CommVault Maintenance Advantage incidents.
• Deploy CommVault upgrades, service packs, and hotfixes.
• Manage the CommServe Software Cache and Remote Caches.
• Resolve file and system-level restore requests.
• Utilize CommVault auditing, command line operations, logging, and reporting features.
• Configure CommServer Version 11.x, Media Agents, Client & Database Deduplication Agents, and Libraries.
• Implement CommVault Deduplication and IP Network, WAN, and LAN-free (SAN) based data backup design.
• Design and configure data protection and backup recovery solutions, such as virtual tape, disk-to-disk-to-tape, and data replication.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot NDMP backups for various NAS technologies.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot database backups for Oracle, SQL, SAP, and Exchange.
• Perform chargeback estimation, provisioning, and documentation tasks.
• Produce regular reports for management to assist in cost recovery, capacity planning, and consolidation.
• Automate minor tasks through scripting.
• Install, configure, and administer CommVault, including multiplexing, multi-streaming, and disk staging to optimize backup processes.
• Implement SAN and NAS solutions with CommVault (e.g., NetApp, EMC-Clarion/Celera).
• Contribute to disaster recovery planning and administration for Windows and UNIX platforms using CommVault.
• Handle issues related to CommVault Catalog databases, Storage Units, Policies, De-Duplication, and vStorage APIs.
• Manage backup operations using VEEAM Backup and Replication tool, including backup and replication jobs.
• Handle Cohesity data management solutions, including troubleshooting and fixing backup issues.
• Use cloud storage containers in backup processes.
• Add new clients to backup using VEEAM and Cohesity.
• Monitor and report using VEEAM and Cohesity.
• Upgrade agents in the environment to the newest release.

Requirements

• Very strong working knowledge of Commvault CommServer 10 and 11.
• Thorough understanding of Commvault policy-driven backup/restore architecture and best practices.
• Expertise in Windows and Unix/Linux server administration, including routine patching in a CommVault environment.
• Knowledgeable in TCP/IP and SAN technologies.
• Experience with CommVault Maintenance Advantage incident submission and resolution.
• Experience in CommVault upgrades, Service Pack, and Hotfix deployment.
• Experience in managing the CommServe Software Cache and Remote Caches.
• Familiarity with data protection and backup recovery solutions such as virtual tape, disk-to-disk-to-tape, and data replication.
• Unix and/or Windows systems administration experience.
• Experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting NDMP backups for various NAS technologies.
• Experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting database backups for Oracle, SQL, SAP, and Exchange.
• Experience in handling backup operations using VEEAM Backup and Replication tool.
• Experience in managing day-to-day tasks like managing backup jobs and replication jobs.
• Experience in handling Cohesity data management solutions.
• Experience in troubleshooting and fixing backup issues.
• Experience in using cloud storage containers in backup.
• Experience in monitoring and reporting using VEEAM and Cohesity.
• Experience in upgrading agents on the environment to the newest release.
