Backhaul Driver DOT

Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Local Backhaul Driver (DOT) ensures timely and accurate pick-up of product from local vendors. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, picking up product, returning it to the distribution center, performing deliveries along assigned routes, and completing administrative tasks.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

• At least 1 year of route driving experience required
• DOT certification required
• Valid Texas State Class A CDL license required
• Must be able to spend one night per week out of town
• Will work some holidays and some Saturdays
• Basic math skills required
• Ability to understand and enforce regulatory guidelines
• Knowledge of customer service principles and quality standards
• Ability to use Microsoft Office and learn new applications/proprietary software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with multiple levels of organization
• Self-motivated; able to work independently

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions
• Ability to follow instructions and take direction
• Able to use shoulders, arms, wrist, hands, feet and legs
• Ability to walk extensively
• Ability to stand for long periods of time, bend at the waist, stoop, and squat to lift heavy items in a proper manner
• Ability to perform repetitive lifting of 50 lbs
