Backend Software Engineer Intern (TikTok-Privacy and Security) - 2027 Summer

About the role

The TikTok Privacy & Security Product team builds compliant and user-friendly privacy solutions for TikTok, aiming to build trust among users, regulators, and the public. The team focuses on privacy-related products, including user/underage protection, data access controls, and data retention policies. This internship offers hands-on experience, industry exposure, and opportunities to tackle real-world challenges while fostering personal and professional growth. Interns will gain practical experience, explore career paths, and participate in social events, learning programs, and development workshops alongside industry professionals.

Responsibilities

• Build new features that impact hundreds of millions of users worldwide.
• Solve unique, large-scale, and highly complex technical problems.
• Participate in technical discussions related to the team's product and engineering work.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Master degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Able to commit to a 12-week internship during the Summer of 2027.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated software engineering experience from previous internships, work experience, coding competitions, or publications.
• High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong learning ability, clear communication, and a sense of teamwork and responsibility.
• Proficient in C/C++, Python, and shell programming languages, with a deep understanding of data structure and algorithm design.

Pay

The hourly rate for this internship position is $45.
