About The Role We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our Streaming team at Affirm. This remote role within the US offers an exciting opportunity to work on data infrastructure that drives critical business insights and operational excellence. As part of the team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and scaling event-driven architecture and stream processing systems. Your work will directly influence how data is explored, validated, and utilized across the organization. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including product management, design, and analytics—to identify new use cases, improve existing infrastructure, and ensure the reliability and performance of our data systems. The ideal candidate will have a passion for solving complex problems, a strong foundation in backend development, and a proactive approach to personal and team growth. Qualifications Minimum of 1.5 years of experience as a software engineer.Proficiency in Python or Kotlin for backend development.Experience designing, developing, and deploying backend systems.Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, Kafka, Flink, and Kubernetes.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business scenarios into scalable solutions.Experience navigating large codebases, debugging, and conducting code reviews.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with global teams.Practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.Ownership mindset with a proactive approach to feedback and professional development. Responsibilities Break down complex projects into manageable tasks and deliver in multiple phases, ensuring timely completion.Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams to support the entire product development lifecycle.Identify new data infrastructure use cases and work on designing scalable solutions to meet evolving needs.Support the operational stability and availability of data systems by creating and monitoring relevant metrics.Participate in on-call rotations and respond promptly to system incidents to maintain high availability.Contribute to team growth through participation in hiring, mentoring, and knowledge sharing activities.Continuously seek opportunities to improve existing systems and processes through innovative solutions.
