The Role
At DTCC, we are dedicated to innovation in the financial markets and fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We seek a Lead Software Engineer to join the UTC Modernization program, driving the transformation of core trade processing systems into cloud-ready, event-driven architectures.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of distributed backend services using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and relational databases
- Support key functions such as MPID processing, trade validation, and data synchronization across systems
- Drive technical leadership, mentor engineers, and influence architectural decisions
- Collaborate across squads and platform teams to deliver robust, production-grade solutions
- Contribute to the design of components and participate in the construction and functional testing of applications
- Support development teams, testing, troubleshooting, and production support
- Align risk and control processes into day-to-day responsibilities to monitor and mitigate risk; escalate appropriately
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Strong backend engineering experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka
- Hands-on experience with Oracle or similar relational databases
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)
- Experience building distributed, event-driven, or cloud native applications
- Experience with Angular for front-end development
- Ability to work across the full stack, contributing primarily to backend and messaging-driven components while supporting UI work as needed

Schedule
We offer a flexible/hybrid model of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote (onsite Tuesdays, Wednesdays and a third day unique to each team or employee).
