Backend Engineer (+ Equity) at VC-backed AI retention platform

About the role

This is a role being recruited for on behalf of a VC-backed AI startup focused on solving consumer brand churn through AI.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain core infrastructure, including APIs and database schemas, for production-ready AI agents.
• Build and manage complex integrations with third-party platforms to enable seamless data flow for consumer brand clients.
• Collaborate directly with the founding team to architect scalable systems and define the long-term technical roadmap.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of professional experience in backend development with a focus on server-side logic and performance.
• Strong fundamentals in database management and API design, with an ability to ship reliable, high-quality code quickly.
• A proactive, owner-mindset with a drive to solve complex problems and thrive in a fast-paced, in-person startup environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with modern web technologies such as Node.js, Python, or Go.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.

Skills

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience with version control systems like Git.
