Backend Engineer

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer II to join our dynamic team at GrabJobs. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and scaling our backend systems that support our core recruitment platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize scalable APIs and backend services that enhance our platform’s performance and reliability. Your expertise will directly impact our ability to deliver a seamless experience for both employers and job seekers, enabling us to maintain our position as a leader in the recruitment industry.

Qualifications

• At least 3+ years of professional experience as a Backend Engineer with a focus on Java
• Additional familiarity with tools and technologies such as gRPC, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, and Bigtable is highly desirable
• Proven experience working directly with stakeholders to gather requirements, design APIs, and develop scalable systems that meet business needs
• A solid understanding of distributed system architecture, data structures, algorithms, and data processing technologies
• Comfortable deploying and maintaining high-volume services in production environments
• A passion for experimentation, iteration, and data-driven decision-making

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with internal teams to design scalable backend systems and APIs that support our recruitment platform
• Architecting, developing, and operating Java-based services that serve millions of users worldwide, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security
• Acting as a technical leader within your team, contributing to the overall architecture and best practices across the company’s backend ecosystem
• Working closely with product owners, engineers, and designers to identify and solve complex challenges, creating features that enhance the user experience
• Participating in hack days and innovation weeks, exploring new technologies and ideas to improve our platform
• Mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence
