Backend Data Engineer :: Des Moines, Iowa :: Hot Requirement

Location: Des Moines, Iowa | Position Type: W2/Full-time | Authorization to work in the U.S. required | Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

About the role

We’re looking for a Backend Node.js Engineer with strong experience in Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS serverless services. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building event-driven backend applications and working with data pipelines, ETL workflows, and cloud-based data platforms.

What you’ll work with

• Node.js, TypeScript, and Express
• AWS Lambda and Step Functions
• Event-driven services including SNS, SQS, and EventBridge
• Data pipelines and ETL workflows
• Amazon S3 and data lake/lakehouse architectures
• SQL and NoSQL databases

Requirements

• Hands-on backend development experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Experience building APIs/services using Express
• Strong experience with AWS serverless architecture, particularly Lambda and Step Functions
• Experience designing or supporting event-driven systems using SNS, SQS, or EventBridge
• Experience with data pipelines, ETL, or data processing workflows
• Good understanding of S3-based data lakes or lakehouse environments
• Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases
• Ability to build reliable, scalable, and maintainable backend services
