Back-Up Machine Operator

Core hours vary by shift; Saturday work may be required based on production and staffing needs.

Schedule

• 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00am to 2:00pm. Saturday hours, if needed, are generally 6:00am to 12:00pm.
• 2nd Shift: Monday - Friday, 2:00pm to 10:00pm. Saturday hours, if needed, are generally 12:00pm to 6:00pm.
• 3rd Shift: Monday - Friday, 10:00pm to 6:00am (Monday night start). Saturday hours, if needed, are generally 6:00pm to 12:00am.

Overtime is compensated at 1.5× the straight-time rate for hours worked beyond 8 in a day or 40 in a week.

Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment and make necessary machine adjustments to meet product quality standards.
• Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices, SQF, and established safety rules and regulations.
• Maintain accurate production records.
• Perform quality inspection checks and product safety checks at regular intervals throughout the shift.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment and direct others to complete work assignments.
• Operate box erecting, case sealing, and labeling equipment.
• Move pallets, perform basic cleanup/sweeping, and assist other positions as needed.
• Perform sanitation of the work area and equipment as required.
• Assist in training for the position when needed.
• Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime, different shifts, and weekends as needed.

Requirements

• Mechanically inclined; must satisfactorily complete pre-employment assessments.
• Able to give and accept constructive criticism.
• Maintain a professional image with customers, peers, supervisors, and the public.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficient in math and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-starter, easily motivated, and requires limited supervision.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; additional education is a plus.
• Forklift experience is desirable.
• Prior manufacturing and/or packaging experience is a plus.

Working Conditions

• Work inside a clean manufacturing environment.
• Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift 50 pounds; occasionally lift 75 pounds.
