About the role
The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) serves nearly every Colorado resident by providing identification, driver, and vehicle services at State and County offices. The DMV Driver Control Section administers motor-vehicle statutory requirements, compiles and houses motor-vehicle data, and processes requests from law enforcement, governmental agencies, and the public.
We are hiring a customer-service oriented Customer Service Representative (Back Office Cashier) in the Driver Control unit. This role requires excellent attention to detail to ensure documents are valid, cash is handled correctly, and data is accurate. You will navigate customer issues and questions using your expert customer-service skills.
This position reports onsite at the Howard Office, 2829 W. Howard Place, 4th Floor, Denver, CO 80204.
Responsibilities
- Process applications and payments for fees; analyze, certify, and ensure documents comply with Colorado statutes and policies.
- Determine appropriate actions for submitted documents; review, process, and verify completeness and accuracy.
- Receive and verify payments; record information into the DRIVES system; reconcile transactions and payments.
- Scan and image documents; verify scanned documents for accuracy and completeness.
Requirements
- Residency: Must be a resident of the State of Colorado at the time of application.
- Experience: Two years of relevant experience in general clerical and/or call-center customer service work, including:
- Providing exceptional customer service in a call center and/or online.
- Data entry into programs or databases (appointments, contact information, customer records).
- Daily use of office equipment and software (email, Microsoft Office, Google Apps, scanners, printers, copiers, fax machines).
- Typing professional emails, letters, reports, briefings, forms, and memoranda.
- Reviewing and comparing data for accuracy and completeness; compiling routine reports.
- Education and Experience: A combination of related education (Business Administration, Accounting, Public Administration, Political Science, or similar) and/or relevant experience equal to two years may substitute for experience.
- Conditions of Employment:
- Must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations; a pre-employment evaluation of tax records will be conducted.
- Must pass a background investigation and reference check prior to appointment.
- Must maintain a safe driving record and valid driver license if required to drive a State-owned vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in a complex, high-volume call center.
- Experience working with sensitive or confidential information.
- Career progression in a general clerical and/or customer service position.
