About the role

Responsibilities

  • Help Vital maintain existing websites as well as build new ones using the latest in JavaScript, CSS, and HTML technologies.
  • Collaborate with the development team to design, develop, and maintain custom Magento extensions, modules, and themes to enhance the functionality and appearance of our ecommerce platform.
  • Work on server-side logic, database schema, and API integrations to ensure seamless data flow and efficient performance of the ecommerce platform.
  • Identify and implement performance optimizations to enhance the speed, scalability, and security of our Magento-based ecommerce website.
  • Customize and integrate third-party extensions, APIs, and services to meet specific business requirements and improve the overall user experience.
  • Conduct rigorous testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of website issues to maintain a stable and error-free ecommerce environment.
  • Perform code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to best practices, and compliance with established coding standards.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards.
  • Use version control systems, such as Git, to manage codebase and collaborate effectively with the development team.
  • Work closely with front-end developers, UI/UX designers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and deliver outstanding ecommerce experiences.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in ecommerce, backend development, and Magento to propose innovative solutions and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in back end web development, with a focus on eCommerce platforms and Magento.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Magento 2 development, including custom module development and theme customization.
  • Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, and related backend technologies commonly used in ecommerce development.
  • Knowledge of ecommerce best practices, such as catalog management, order processing, and payment gateways integration.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, to facilitate effective collaboration with front-end developers.
  • Experience with performance optimization, caching mechanisms, and website security in the context of ecommerce platforms.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integration of third-party services into Magento.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Magento Certification (e.g., Magento Certified Developer) is a plus.
  • Experience with other ecommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce) and their customization.
  • Understanding of cloud technologies and hosting environments for scalable ecommerce solutions.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum) and project management tools.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in the Magento community.

$80k - $110k
