Back-end Software Development Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and support mission-critical cloud platform components powering the connected vehicle ecosystem.
  • Build and enhance platform services and APIs that provide secure, reliable, and scalable vehicle connectivity.
  • Create and manage Kafka producers and consumers for real-time vehicle data processing.
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
  • Implement OAuth2/JWT-based authentication and authorization for secure services.
  • Own services throughout the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and support.
  • Develop automated tests using Test-Driven Development (TDD) and integration testing practices.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, metrics, alerting, and performance management to ensure platform health.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and product teams to deliver scalable and customer-focused solutions.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and promote engineering best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and mentor junior engineers when appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of progressive software development experience in cloud-based environments
  • Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot development
  • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices
  • Hands-on experience with Docker containerization and Kubernetes/EKS deployments
  • Experience with Kafka, PostgreSQL, gRPC, and distributed systems
  • Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT authentication, and cloud security best practices
  • Experience implementing automated testing, including TDD and integration testing
  • Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical, 24x7 production systems
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in a related technical field
  • Extensive experience with AWS cloud services, including EKS, S3, RDS, IAM, and MSK
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Concourse, ArgoCD, Tekton, and Cloud Build
  • Experience using SonarQube, FOSSA, GitHub, and GitOps deployment methodologies
  • Knowledge of API technologies and tools including JSON, REST, Swagger, Postman, and Tyk
  • Experience with DataDog or other observability and monitoring platforms
  • Experience with canary deployments and zero-downtime release strategies
  • Demonstrated success supporting large-scale, always-on cloud applications
  • Experience contributing to software architecture, technical design, and engineering mentorship initiatives
