About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Back-End Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in defining and maintaining the technical standards for our backend systems while actively contributing to the development and deployment of production-grade software. More than just an individual contributor, you will serve as a technical standard-bearer, elevating engineering quality, reducing technical debt, and ensuring the robustness, reliability, and scalability of our products. Your leadership will influence how we architect, review, and ship code across our backend services, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. Within your first quarter, you will be expected to write high-quality production code, establish engineering standards, and help the team operate with greater clarity and confidence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience supporting and shipping production applications and systems serving large-scale user bases.
• Deep expertise in backend development, including APIs, infrastructure, and full-stack capabilities.
• Proficiency in Go (Golang) with a proven track record of building scalable, production-grade systems.
• Experience with object-oriented languages such as Java or C# is a plus.
• Strong familiarity with AWS services including ECS, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, and cloud architecture best practices.
• Experience designing and working with GraphQL APIs in high-scale environments.
• Exceptional understanding of system design, architecture, and engineering best practices.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and high-quality code consistently.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience collaborating closely with product teams on a daily basis.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; Master's or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical lead for the backend practice, setting standards and guiding the team.
• Design, develop, review, and deploy production-ready backend code in a hands-on leadership role.
• Define and document engineering standards, best practices, and design patterns within your domain.
• Ensure code quality, scalability, and maintainability across all backend systems.
• Collaborate with product teams to translate product requirements into technical execution plans.
• Audit existing systems to identify and address technical debt proactively.
• Establish and enforce processes through code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and documentation.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver features predictably and reliably.
• Mentor and guide 3–5 engineers, fostering a high-performance engineering culture.
