About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Back End Engineer to join our growing Trading team. This remote role is open to candidates located in Chicago, IL, or New York, NY, with occasional travel to Los Angeles and San Francisco. As a key member of our engineering team, you will lead initiatives to develop and optimize our trading infrastructure, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability. You will act as a technical leader, mentoring junior engineers and driving best practices across the organization. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-stakes systems that impact millions of users. You will analyze and solve intricate problems across multiple workflows, build scalable data pipelines, and develop customer-centric applications. Your expertise will directly influence the efficiency and robustness of our trading platform, contributing to our mission of transforming wealth management through innovative technology.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on building scalable and precise distributed systems
- 2+ years of recent experience developing low latency trading systems at scale
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Proficiency with modern tech stacks such as Java, Spring Boot, Microservices architecture, AWS, Postgres, and Kubernetes
- Strong ownership mentality with pride in delivering high-quality work
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging in intentional dialogue and knowledge sharing
- Demonstrated resilience and determination to overcome challenges and achieve goals
- Confidence coupled with humility, with a strong foundation of technical knowledge and openness to new ideas

Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor engineering team members, promoting best practices and technical excellence
- Analyze complex problems across multiple user workflows and develop effective solutions
- Design, build, and scale backend services and user-facing web applications
- Create and optimize scalable data pipelines and ELT processes for efficient data management
- Develop new data integrations based on detailed requirements and specifications
- Perform data analysis to identify and resolve data discrepancies and issues
- Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of trading systems and infrastructure
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives
- Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate innovative technologies to improve platform capabilities
