About the Role
The Mold Tech will report to the Shift Supervisor to ensure production operates smoothly and quality standards are maintained. This position involves functional leadership responsibilities, including designating team members to proper locations to meet production schedules, troubleshooting equipment, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up machines for operation, change material and color to meet production schedules.
- Maintain a technical understanding of processes and raw materials used.
- Keep supervisor/management informed of all problems and machine malfunctions.
- Start up machines, monitor quality, and make adjustments to maintain efficient production levels.
- Respond to QA Techs by adjusting machines to maintain appropriate sizes and standards.
- Oversee proper packaging procedures and ensure machines meet customer demands.
- Respond to alarms or requests for assistance to correct machine malfunctions or team member issues.
- Use proper Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Maintenance Departments regarding machine operations.
- Inspect scrap to prevent usable product from being discarded and record scrap numbers.
- Assist with packer/handler duties during relief breaks.
- Keep the floor stocked with materials required for production (fitments, handles, labels, tape, etc.).
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure quality and housekeeping standards are upheld.
- Cover for the supervisor in their absence, including training employees, planning, assigning work, and addressing complaints.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of injection molding machinery and processes, including mold set-ups, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Ability to maintain efficient production levels in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to identify alpha/numeric product codes.
- Knowledge of mechanical inspection techniques and practices.
