Azure Development & DevOps Architect

About the role

Our client is seeking an Azure Development & DevOps Architect to embed hands-on architecture practices directly into how software is designed, built, and delivered. The ideal candidate is a strong collaborator who can translate business requirements into durable technical designs and communicate trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This is a hybrid position based in New York, NY.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Development and DevOps teams as an embedded architect early in the design lifecycle
• Lead refactoring and modernization of on-premises workloads to Azure
• Guide project teams through build-vs-buy evaluations with a security-first lens
• Facilitate Azure architecture reviews aligned to the Well-Architected Framework
• Advise on CI/CD pipeline design, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment automation

Requirements

• At least 8 years of combined experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or DevOps, including hands-on Azure architecture
• Deep experience with Azure app services, containers (AKS/Container Apps), serverless, and API Management
• Proven experience migrating on-premises workloads to Azure
• Strong DevOps fundamentals using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and infrastructure-as-code (Bicep/Terraform)
• Working knowledge of Azure security and governance tools (Entra ID, RBAC, Key Vault)
