About the role

The Distribution Center Associate ensures essential medicines and medical supplies reach health programs, partners, and communities worldwide. This role supports receiving, inventory management, storage, and distribution of donated and purchased medical products, maintaining inventory accuracy and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Enter data into the inventory management database efficiently and accurately.
• Load/unload donations, purchases, and shipments using warehouse machinery and equipment.
• Use the HELM Inventory Management System proficiently.
• Acquire and maintain licenses for Sit-Down Forklifts, Narrow-Aisle Reach Trucks, and Man-up Order Pickers.
• Ensure data integrity and uniformity throughout entry and outbound processes.
• Interface with other departments via Teams, Zoom, and email regarding inbound/outbound paperwork, issues, and errors.
• Model and contribute to Americares values, work culture, and mission.
• Engage in team spaces with openness, global competencies, and a growth mindset.

Key expectations

First 90 days

• Learn and live Americares values.
• Complete all required new hire onboarding trainings.
• Perform accurate data entry using bar code scanners and computer workstations.
• Acquire and maintain a license for Sit-Down Forklift.
• Learn to operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, stretch wrap machines, and pallet scales.
• Offload trailers and stage products for intake processes.
• Conduct frontline checks and report on product quality, screening stock for expiration, tampering, or damage.
• Follow OSHA regulations and Americares DC policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Assist in daily warehouse housekeeping and maintenance.

First 6 months

• Acquire and maintain licenses for Narrow-Aisle Reach Trucks and Man-up Order Pickers.
• Build, stage, and load outbound skids/orders for LTL, air, freight, and sea containers.
• Support Small Package divisions by picking and processing high-volume orders for FedEx Ground, UPS, and DHL.
• Process paper pick lists with barcode scanners, pack boxes, wrap skids, and stage completed orders.
• Complete all shipping documents for various types of shipments.

First year

• Develop skills in both receiving and shipping sides of the business.
• Work autonomously in all aspects of the role.
• Maintain all licenses for heavy equipment.
• Complete Dangerous Goods Training.
• Adhere to Global Operations Standard Operating Procedures, focusing on Stamford Distribution Center SOPs.

Requirements

• Ability to lift 60–80 pounds.
• Experience organizing and tracking warehouse inventory.
• Experience with data entry in various software systems.
• Technology skills and ability to learn new software systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience working collaboratively with a team to meet established goals.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• US work authorization is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Fluency in languages spoken in Americares core locations (e.g., Spanish, preferred).
• OSHA Forklift certification and prior forklift experience.
• Experience in receiving.
• Experience operating barcode scanners.
• Experience in pharmaceutical or medical inventory control, including familiarity with lot numbers and expiration dates.

Pay

$53,235 to $58,500 per year.

Schedule

Full-time, hourly.
