About the role
Lead the design, development, and delivery of new capabilities for the Artemis platform, leveraging full stack engineering and AI technologies to transform ideas into scalable, production-ready solutions. This role partners closely with technical and business stakeholders to solve complex challenges, establish engineering best practices, drive modern software delivery through CI/CD, and ensure AI-enabled capabilities are secure, reliable, and compliant. As a senior technical leader, you will influence the platform's architecture, mentor development teams, and help shape the future of one of Caterpillar Financial's most visible technology transformation initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead proof-of-concept and development work for new capabilities, and partner with the Team Leader and development team to take them into production
- Design and build full stack features across React/TypeScript front ends, Python or Node.js services and APIs, and AWS cloud services
- Drive UI/UX and front-end architecture decisions so Artemis stays intuitive, consistent, and easy to use as it grows
- Build AI-enabled capabilities and agent-based workflows, including prompt and context design, evaluation, and guardrails that keep them safe and reliable
- Design and build integrations with enterprise systems such as Snowflake, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, and GitHub
- Establish reusable patterns, coding standards, and shared components for the platform
- Write and maintain automated tests, and help build the test coverage and pipeline practices that move the team toward CI/CD
- Support production deployments, and provide production support as needed: troubleshoot complex issues, lead root-cause analysis, and drive lasting fixes
- Review pull requests in GitHub and mentor developers, reducing key-person dependency and building depth across the team
- Work with architecture and security partners to test emerging technologies, guide their implementation, and ensure solutions meet Cat Financial's standards and audit requirements
- Demo new capabilities to stakeholders and turn their feedback into clear technical next steps
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including building and supporting production applications
- Strong front-end experience with React and TypeScript
- Strong back-end experience building services and APIs in Python or Node.js
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (for example serverless compute, API management, storage, and managed AI services)
- Experience building integrations with enterprise systems (for example Snowflake, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, GitHub)
- Experience working with relational databases and REST APIs
- Proficiency with GitHub-based workflows, including branching, pull requests, and code review
