AWS Cloud Engineer (Remote)

Position Overview

This role focuses on building scalable, serverless AWS solutions, integrating AI-powered services, and developing high-performance cloud infrastructure in a collaborative research environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud applications using Python and AWS.
• Build and enhance serverless architectures and event-driven applications.
• Integrate AI/GenAI solutions into internal tools to improve data accessibility and workflow automation.
• Develop cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to rapidly prototype and deliver innovative solutions.
• Support high-performance data processing pipelines and cloud-based applications.
• Follow software engineering best practices, including testing, version control, CI/CD, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience with Python.
• MUST be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• AWS Developer Certification (or equivalent AWS certification).
• Strong experience developing applications in AWS cloud environments.

Required Skills

• AWS Lambda, Step Functions, SQS, SNS
• EKS, ECS, S3, ALB
• Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
• Event-driven and serverless architectures
• Git, CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred), and cloud deployment best practices
• Knowledge of data structures, API/schema design, and distributed systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within scientific, research, life sciences, or bioinformatics environments.
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and GenAI technologies.
• Experience with React, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, or Java.
• Experience developing applications for high-performance computing (HPC).

Schedule

Full-Time (40 hours/week) | Must be available during Pacific Time business hours

Pay

$40-45/hr+ (Benefits included)
