Project ManagementFull-time

This role serves as the carbon assurance program lead for AWS Global Sustainability, owning end-to-end coordination of third-party assurance, methodology change management, and recast processes across Carbon (Scope 1, 2, 3).

About the role

In collaboration with Amazon’s central Carbon Measurement and Governance team, the AWS Carbon Assurance Lead will prepare AWS for assurance cycles, ensuring the AWS footprint components are of high quality, in alignment with measurement standards (e.g., GHG Protocol), and sufficiently documented to pass third-party assurance. The role will continually enhance AWS assurance readiness and internal controls, working alongside product managers, engineers, scientists, and business leaders to develop solutions for measurement, accounting, and assurance.

This role directly impacts the product feature roadmap of the AWS Sustainability console, enabling AWS customers to measure, track, and reduce their environmental impact. It coordinates acceptable request changes to emission factors, activity data, and/or calculation methodology relevant to AWS that may impact Amazon’s carbon footprint. The role ensures changes to carbon measurements and methodologies are scientifically credible, properly validated, accurately reflected in reporting, and compliant with standards. It supports Amazon's sustainability goals through precise quantification and verification of environmental impact.

The ideal candidate has specialized knowledge of corporate sustainability methodology, accounting, assurance, and reporting best practices, along with strong analytical abilities. Data-driven decision-making is core to Amazon’s culture, and the ideal candidate applies sustainability principles to real-world data and accounting challenges.
