About the role
The Awake Overnight Direct Service Worker at Advocates provides emotional support and assistance to clients in a residential setting, particularly those in the Deaf Services division. This position operates on Friday and Saturday nights from 10pm to 8am.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the well-being and safety of clients, maintaining a clean, home-like environment.
- Stay awake, alert, and responsive to clients' needs throughout the shift.
- Aid clients with morning activities such as preparation for the day, cleaning, and cooking.
- Implement established treatment programs based on the client's Individualized Service Plan (ISP) and Individualized Action Plan (IAP).
- Communicate the progress, mental status, and any changes in daily notes to the on-call staff.
- Report significant health, psychiatric, or behavioral issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Provide crisis intervention and access emergency services as necessary.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Excellent interpersonal, judgment, and coaching skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic computer application proficiency.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, client-centered, and team-oriented environment.
- Valid driver’s license, operational and insured vehicle access, and willingness to transport clients.
- Demonstrated understanding and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
