Atlantic Valve Services (AVS) is seeking a skilled Machinist II to support the repair, restoration, and machining of critical valve components used across the power generation, pharmaceutical, chemical, refining, manufacturing, and industrial markets. This is not a high-volume production machining environment. Our machinists perform specialized repair and restoration work on valve bodies, trim, actuators, and related components, helping customers return critical equipment to service safely and efficiently. We are a premier service provider for Emerson/Fisher control valves and an authorized assembler of Anderson Greenwood, Crosby, and Kunkle pressure relief valves. In addition to safety relief valves, our experienced technicians repair all types of control valves, including sliding stem and rotary valves, as well as isolation valves such as gate, globe, ball, butterfly, and check valves. Responsibilities include: Operate manual machine shop equipment including engine lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and other machining equipmentMachine new parts from bar stock and raw castingsRestore damaged valve bodies, trim components, and related equipment to required tolerancesInterpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructionsPerform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other measuring instrumentsMaintain critical dimensions and tolerances throughout machining and repair operationsRework, modify, and repair existing components to support customer requirementsAssist in developing tooling, fixtures, and production aids to improve efficiency and qualityVerify completed work meets quality standards and job specificationsComplete required job documentation and inspection recordsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentComply with all AVS safety policies and proceduresSupport additional shop and field service activities as assigned Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalentMinimum of 3 years of machining experienceStrong understanding of manual machining practices and techniquesAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprintsExperience using precision measuring equipmentStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanshipAbility to work independently and as part of a teamCommitment to workplace safety Preferred Machinist trade school certificate or apprenticeship trainingMilitary machining or mechanical maintenance experienceExperience repairing industrial equipment or valve componentsExperience with horizontal lathes, vertical turret lathes (VTLs), milling machines, boring mills, and drill pressesWelding, fabrication, or mechanical repair experienceExperience in power generation, manufacturing, refinery, pharmaceutical, or industrial environments Ideal Backgrounds We encourage applications from individuals with experience in: Manual machining and toolmakingIndustrial equipment repairValve repair and maintenancePower generation facilitiesManufacturing operationsRefineries and chemical plantsMilitary mechanical and machining occupationsShipyards and heavy industrial environmentsPrecision machine shopsMaintenance and reliability organizations Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to work in an industrial machine shop environmentAbility to stand for extended periodsAbility to regularly lift and move materials weighing 25-50 poundsAbility to safely operate machine tools and lifting equipmentAbility to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)Occasional travel and field work may be required depending on business needs and experience levelAbility to work overtime during peak outage and maintenance seasons Ready to Put Your Machining Skills to Work?
