AVP, Warehouse Asset Management
About the Role
Our client is the Commercial Real Estate Finance group within the investment bank of a premier European-based global financial services institution located in New York City. Their real estate group is consistently ranked among the top 10 global and US real estate lenders, and they are expanding their platform into new products. We are seeking an AVP, Asset Management to join the Warehouse Team, focusing on portfolio and asset management of a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of commercial real estate loans for private and public REITs, private equity, and commercial real estate finance companies.
In this role, you will work directly with premier institutional clients, partnering on the financing of a wide array of commercial real estate transactions. The primary responsibility is overseeing the portfolio of outstanding loans on the warehouse lines, which includes predominantly transitional floating-rate loans and some stable fixed-rate assets. Candidates will gain exposure to the full breadth of commercial real estate finance activities.
Responsibilities
- Partner with public and private REITs, private equity firms, and commercial real estate finance companies in the acquisition, refinancing, and development of commercial real estate across all asset types.
- Review monthly property-level financial statements, rent rolls, leasing, construction, and servicer reports.
- Analyze client due diligence packages, including investment memos, third-party reports, market information, and sponsor financials.
- Construct Asset Management Reports (AMRs) and Asset Summary Reports (ASRs) with cash flow models.
- Manage client relationships, including reviewing and analyzing clients' annual and quarterly financial statements (e.g., annual reports, 10-Ks, 10-Qs) to assess financial strength and position.
- Perform credit analysis and investigation of existing and prospective real estate clients and counterparties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a highly regarded, accredited institution.
- 5+ years of experience asset managing or underwriting commercial real estate loans.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a larger team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and Excel; Argus proficiency is preferred.
- Familiarity with market research sources such as RCA, CoStar, and Reis.
- Experience with complex loan structures and documentation.
Pay
The annual full-time base salary range for this role is $130,000 - $160,000. Specific compensation is determined through interviews and a review of relevant education, experience, training, skills, geographic location, and alignment with market data. Certain positions may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus as determined by bonus program guidelines and management approval.
