About the Role
Responsible for the management, training, coaching, and development of the Wholesaling team within Sammons Independent Annuity Group. Includes execution and oversight of sales activities with extensive travel, working with wholesalers as they meet with agents in various forums.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategy around product, marketing, and distribution partnerships through collaboration with the leadership team.
- Plan, allocate, and monitor work; make decisions regarding employment, performance appraisals, training, and related personnel actions for the wholesale team.
- Set goals for all direct reports, coach for performance, and collaborate with other business unit sales managers to create development plans and goals for sales teams.
- Provide training, coaching, and development through weekly 1:1 calls, in-field visits, sales meetings, and call coaching.
- Hire and onboard new wholesalers as necessary.
- Actively and consistently engage external distribution partners and sales leadership to solicit feedback on team performance and identify additional opportunities for collaboration and partnership in growing sales.
- Strategize with Marketing Communications to develop impactful promotional and educational campaigns for distribution partners.
- Participate in and create presentations for virtual conference training sessions as assigned.
- Coach and assist wholesalers in developing sales tools and resources.
- Represent the company at industry functions and training meetings by speaking to groups and effectively promoting annuity products.
- Professionally deliver training presentations to groups of annuity producers.
- Build solid and enduring professional relationships with assigned account relationships to influence and drive sustainable sales.
- Ensure wholesalers work in conjunction with sales leadership, coworkers, and other external partners to promote annuity products.
- Take corrective action to remedy sales practices detrimental to the client or the company.
- Prepare detailed and time-sensitive reports reflecting progress toward objectives by measuring regional activity and sales.
- Collaboratively work with other leaders within Sammons Financial Group (SFG) Member Companies to achieve goals and facilitate communication between departments.
- Actively participate in Sales and Marketing meetings, including presentations to senior leadership and Regional Distribution Partners.
- Promote a high-performing, highly motivated, productive team environment.
- Drive and reinforce commitment to internal controls processes such as those under Model Audit Rule and Record Information Management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of Fixed Annuity Sales and Marketing experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of fixed annuity products (required).
- Knowledge of accounting and budgeting processes (preferred).
- Strong people and project management skills.
- Ability to effectively manage and motivate staff.
- Proven interpersonal skills to allow for collaborative work effort and accomplishment of organizational priorities in a team environment.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing marketing plans.
- Fixed annuity distribution experience.
- Ability to interact with all levels of internal and external resources, vendors, and other departments.
- Excellent communication skills—both oral and written.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Professional maturity to effectively interface with Senior Management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Strategy development experience.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Life Insurance license (preferred).
- Must be able to travel a minimum of 50% of the time.
Due to the financial nature and level of accountability of this position, a credit and criminal background check is required. If holding securities licenses, FINRA regulations require fingerprinting and a credit check for this position.
