AVP/Controller - Financial Reporting - P&C Insurance

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual statutory (Yellow Book) and GAAP financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with NAIC reporting requirements and applicable accounting standards.
• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes related to financial reporting.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing financial reporting team.
• Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Actuarial, Treasury, Reinsurance, and Executive Leadership to support strategic initiatives.
• Drive automation and process improvement initiatives to enhance reporting efficiency and internal controls.
• Monitor evolving accounting guidance and regulatory developments, evaluating their impact on the organization.
• Support board reporting, executive presentations, and ad hoc financial analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA Required
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience within the Property & Casualty insurance industry
• Deep knowledge of statutory accounting principles (SAP/STAT) and GAAP reporting
• Experience preparing and reviewing NAIC statutory filings
• Prior leadership experience managing and developing accounting or financial reporting teams
• Strong understanding of internal controls and external audit processes
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with executive leadership
• Experience leading process improvement or finance transformation initiatives is highly desirable
