Overview
Selective Insurance is seeking an AVP to lead the AI Center of Excellence (COE), focusing on operationalizing Selective's enterprise AI strategy. This role will manage a team of AI architects and engineers, engage with business units, and provide strategic direction for AI initiatives.
Responsibilities

Operationalize the enterprise AI program, set priorities, and report on portfolio status, value realization, and risk.

Direct the research, design, engineering, and delivery of reusable enterprise AI capabilities, ensuring production readiness, security, and alignment to enterprise AI reference architecture.

Monitor AI market trends, identify enterprise AI needs, and own the enterprise AI portfolio by operating intake and evaluation processes.

Manage COE engagement with business units through Forward Deployed AI Leads, providing senior-level engagement with business unit executives, and coaching and supporting Forward Deployed AI Leads.

Oversee enterprise AI enablement and adoption, including engineering upskilling, role-based business training, and change management initiatives.

Manage AI vendor and partner relationships, evaluate vendor-driven opportunities, and oversee external AI engineering partners.
Qualifications

Knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts, architectures, and platforms relevant to enterprise insurance operations.

Experience in property and casualty insurance operations, including underwriting, pricing, claims handling, and regulatory compliance.

Ability to plan, manage, and report on a portfolio of concurrent AI initiatives with competing priorities, constrained resources, and cross-functional dependencies.

Understanding of enterprise data strategy, data quality, metadata management, and the relationship between data foundations and AI capability.

Experience leading AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics programs with hands-on involvement in production AI deployments.
